Refugees are too often seen as news stories or statistics. However, they are real people just like you and me. Cuppa Connection brings people together and facilitate conversations with refugees to ultimately foster greater understanding and empathy in London.
We meet up at independent cafes all across London. Locations and times are varied so that everyone in London has a chance to attend.
The host, a refugee and up to four others join for each tea time.
As long as you have permission from people in photographs please share these on social media, you can use the campaign hashtag #CuppaConnection or tag Cuppa Conection. We’re on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
British Red Cross has some useful facts and figures or a blog post about three key facts.
Refugees are like anyone - complex multi-faceted people with various experiences and stories. We agreed during consultation that using the term “refugee” worked as a simple initial way of communicating the campaign and the campaign itself should allow people to get to know one another as people, rather than labels.
We work closely with refugee community organisations.
After you have attended two tea times, please email a current host about applying and we will be in touch.
